2013 Acropolis Rally

From May 31 until June 2, 2013, Greece will be the epicentre of attention of the motorsport enthusiasts from all over the world; Acropolis Rally, in its 59th edition, will ‘bring’ the most challenging motorsport championship back to the unpredictable and fascinating Greek special stages.

All competitors will give their best in an event equal to its long standing brilliant history and at the same time adapted to today’s needs. The rough surfaces of the Peloponnesian special stages, passing by archaeological sites of immense importance, such as Mycenae, as well as through the breathtaking Greek landscape, turn the Acropolis Rally into an exciting experience for both competitors and spectators.

This year’s Greek WRC round will be as prominent as ever. Its ‘centre’ will be Loutraki, a seaside resort on the Gulf of Corinth, located 65 km west of Athens, well known for its vast natural springs and its therapeutic spas.

This year’s ‘real’ challenge consists of 14 special stages and a total route of about 1.040 km, while on Friday May, 31, competitors will have to face a 47 km special stage, followed by a 26 km stage run in darkness!

Earlier on, at 17:00, spectators will have the chance to attend the ceremonial start in Zappeion Megaron Hall of Athens where all of the 2013 Acropolis Rally stars will be present before the real ‘fight’.
